Our food at Sazon Latin Kitchen is an introduction to Latin American cultures through classic dishes and authentic flavors sourced using local and organic ingredients whenever possible. Our mission is to create a nostalgic experience of Latin America through food and highlight the grand diversity of its people.

Sazon Latin Kitchen feeds the body, mind and soul with foods and flavors that evoke travel and emersion in the bountiful variety of cultures throughout Mexico, Central & South America and the Latin Caribbean Islands. We transport our guests through the colorful beauty of our food, it's tastes and aromas, to Abuelita's kitchen where food is love.

Sazon Latin Kitchen values the history and cultures behind the foods we prepare, but moreover we value the generations of people who came before us and grew the food, developed the recipes, and fed their families and communities with the traditional dishes that we serve today.

Chef Marcelo (1).png

Chef Marcelo was born in the heart of Mexico City DF and immigrated to the United States when he was 17 years old. He grew up enjoying the cooking of his Abuelas, Tias and of course his mother and he learned from them many of the techniques and skills he still uses today.

His first restaurant job in San Francisco was as a dishwasher but his determination and desire lay in cooking, and he quickly moved up in the kitchen. At 22 he became Sous Chef at Kuleto’s Italian Restaurant in Union Square, where he worked for several years.

He worked his way around San Francisco as a sous chef at Scala’s Bistro at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, Frascati Restaurant on Nob Hill, Bocanova in Oakland’s Jack London Square, Black Cat Supper Club and most recently as Executive Chef with Good Eating Company at San Francisco’s LinkedIn offices.

Through his cooking career in the Bay Area, he has worked with wonderful chefs that have mentored him and he in turn has mentored many young up and coming cooks and chefs.

Over the years Chef Marcelo has traveled throughout Mexico and South America and has a true love of Latin American cuisines and the cultures and people who nurtured and passed down these foods through the generations.

Chef Marcelo has worked hard over the past 20 years to grow as a chef and prepare himself to take the next step in his career and open his own business. Sazon Latin Kitchen is his vision and an homage to the incredible food and cultures in countries throughout Central and South American, Mexico and the Latin Caribbean Islands.

His food and flavors will transport you to Latin America, even if only for an afternoon.
